Happy New Year! The winter is here, but so are all the shiny new seed catalogs. We've been pouring over them, choosing customer favorites and our standards along with a few new varieties for the 2012 season. If you have a suggestion or would like to see us try a certain vegetable, just drop us a note by email. Here's to a great new year of fun, fresh, healthy eats!

The summer has flown by and the season is starting to come to a close. One very interesting discovery this year has been that finding the time to update a blog while farming is a tough task and I commend all the farmers out there who have the diligence and stamina! We've withstood drenching rains, a hurricane and a lot less sun that we'd like this year, but it was a good season and we continue to learn so much about growing our own food. We just seeded a round of lettuces to test cool weather growing and are very excited to extend the season!

My goodness! We've been so busy seeding and planting vegetable starts a whole month has gotten away without an update. The greenhouse is the fullest we've seen it yet, and that's really saying something. Shelves have been added and new creative ways to use space have been implemented. We're revved up for the season with over twenty vegetable varieties started and plenty more to go every week! We'll be adding photos to the gallery this weekend, so be sure to click on over and check out the latest shots!

The seedlings have fully sprung! It's always exciting to see the first little baby sprouts. I'm always happy to see them carpe lucem! The tasty little leaves of the Red Leaf lettuce already show their beautiful red color.

The lettuces and herbs are seeded and happy in the greenhouse! Despite the chilly nights, it always feels like summer in the greenhouse. The verdant air is a sign of what's to come!

The hanging baskets are planted and judging by the look of the flowers, they are enjoying their new homes! The sight of all that green is making us anxious for spring.

Did you see this article in the Post Star? Pricey Produce hits businesses, consumers. Due to the cold weather in the Southwest and Mexico, we will see price increases and produce shortages in our grocery stores. One of our founding philosophies is food security and stability in pricing. Every purchase of local produce is a step in the right direction for the local food movement.
